The best films about epidemics to watch at home
In fact,
“CORONA” is already finished. An independent film about COVID-19 shot
in February that reflects about the xenofobia this epidemic has created. It
will be released soon on digital platforms.
We do not know if it will be successful or not, but many other films with
the same topic have been so. Below, I suggest different options that you can
watch at home:
Outbreak (1995)
Dustin Hoffman, René Russo, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey face a virus
similar to ebola that started with an infected monkey in US. The free
movement of people is limited by law in the film. It is available on

12 Monkeys (1995)
In 2035, the survivors of a deadly virus live confined underground.

28 days later (2002)
A group of ecologists frees the monkeys of a laboratory that are
infected by a virus. 28 days later, everyone in Great Britain is
infected. A man wakes up at the hospital. He does not remember anything
and finds himself alone. It is available on Google Play Movies.
Contagion (2011)
It is the story of a pandemic that started in China. The virus spreads
through the air and it provokes something similar to a cold but a deadly
cold. Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Matt Damon are part of
the cast. You can watch it on HBO, Youtube and Google Play Movies.
VIRUS (2013)
A successful Korean film. It tells the story of the chaos that a deadly
virus strain of the avian flu provokes in South Korea. It describes very
well how the virus spreads, the mass hysteria and the political
decisions. It is available on Netflix.
WORLD WAR Z (2013)
Brad Pitt travels the world looking for the cure of a virus that turns
those infected into zombies. A lot of action and some scares. It is
available on Youtube and Google Play.
Train to Busan (2016)
The last survivors of a deadly virus that has infected a whole country
are on a train from Seul to Busan. You can watch it on Amazon Prime,
Youtube and Google Play.
93 days (2016)
Based on real events, it tells the story of a traveller with Ebola
symptoms that arrives to Lagos, capital of Nigeria. The title refers to
the 93 days that took to a group of doctors to control the virus. It is
a Netflix Original.
After these suggestions, it seems true that reality overcomes fiction. One
day we will watch a film about COVID-19 and we will not care about the
cast or the end as we will already know it as it is part of our story. The
most important thing is that it will be only a memory.
LAS MEJORES PELÍCULAS SOBRE EPIDEMIAS PARA VER EN CASA
No sabemos si por la situación que estamos viviendo nos identificamos
más con este tipo de películas en que los héroes vencen a los virus más
mortíferos, pero es verdad que la gente, en estos días, quiere ver este
género en lugar de otros.
De hecho, ya está lista
la primera película sobre el COVID-19 “CORONA”, un film
independiente rodado el pasado mes de febrero y que reflexiona sobre la
Xenofobia provocada por la epidemia. La película se estrenará en
breve en plataformas “on line”.
No sabemos si tendrá éxito o no, pero hay otras películas sobre el mismo

Narra la pandemia por un virus procedente de China, que se
transmite por el aire y provoca algo parecido a un resfriado que
resulta mortal. Actúan Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Kate Winslet y

Es una exitosa película coreana. Trata sobre el caos que
origina una mortal cepa del virus de la gripe aviar en Corea
del Sur. Describe muy bien la propagación del virus, la
histeria colectiva y las decisiones políticas. Se puede ver en
Netflix.
Brad Pitt recorre el mundo para buscar una cura contra un
virus que convierte en zombis a los que se infectan. Mucha
acción y algún susto. Está disponible en Youtube y Google
Play.
En un tren que va de Seúl a Busán se refugian los únicos
supervivientes de un virus muy letal que ha
infectado a todo un país. Disponible en Amazon
Prime, YouTube y Google Play.
Basada en hechos reales, relata la historia de un
viajero con síntomas de Ëbola que llega a la capital de
Nigeria, Lagos. Su título se refiere a los 93 días que
un grupo de médicos tardó en controlar el virus. Es
original de Netflix.
Después de estas propuestas, parece que es verdad eso
de que “LA REALIDAD SUPERA LA FICCIÓN”, cuando llegue
la nueva película sobre el COVID 19 ya sabremos el
argumento, no nos importarán los actores y
sabremos también el final puesto que lo habremos
vivido en primera persona. Lo más importante es que
para entonces todo sea tiempo pasado.
