Starting from Scratch
A few days ago,
a mass media company in Spain released a TV add with the motto “Un país
en marcha” (“A country in motion”) as we are approaching the end of the
de-escalation. In it, you can hear the song Cero by Dani Martín. I have always
loved this song but now it has a special meaning as I really feel that we
need to start from scratch (“from zero in Spanish”): we have to change into
a healthier and more solidary lifestyle. We should value more those little
things that have made us more human during this confinement. We need to be
aware that life is meant to be lived, to be enjoyed; that
carpe diem (“enjoy the moment”)
is a motto that we need to strictly fulfil because life can vanish at any
moment. If we don’t follow this motto, one day we will realise that we have acted
foolish wasting our present thinking about the future.
We cannot forget our family and friends; we must have time for them and
help them with anything they need. All these seems to have been forgotten
when people start to lose the fear of getting sick and they see life as they
did before. Some of us will never forget what has happened and we will start
all over again step by step and with an important lesson learnt. We have
realised that
we can lose everything without a warning and that no one is more than
anyone else.

EMPEZAR DE CERO
Después del encierro durante dos meses (más un tercero de semiencierro
por la llamada “desescalada” o salida al confinamiento),
la incertidumbre es la palabra clave que define lo que hemos
sentido y sentimos en cada momento. No estaba claro cuándo
saldríamos de casa ni tampoco si ya lo podríamos hacer como antes lo
hacíamos, tranquilamente y sin miedo a contagios. Durante este tiempo en
los balcones y en la televisión nos ha acompañado la música en cada etapa
que hemos pasado juntos. Son
canciones que van a quedar como clásicas de esta pandemia:
Resistiré (Dúo Dinámico),
Color Esperanza (Diego Torres) o
Sobreviviré (Mónica Naranjo), que han sonado sin parar
durante estos meses.
Hace unos días,
un canal de televisión en España puso un anuncio con el eslogan “Un
país en Marcha” con motivo de que el final de la desescalada
se acerca. El tema principal del anuncio es la canción Cero cuyo autor es Dani Martín. La canción siempre me gustó,
pero en este momento le doy un valor especial porque siento que
realmente tenemos que empezar de cero: tenemos que cambiar nuestra forma
de vida a más saludable y solidaria, dándole valor a las pequeñas cosas,
que en este confinamiento nos han hecho más humanos.
Ser conscientes de que la vida es para vivirla, que hay que disfrutarla,
que carpe diem (“aprovecha el momento”)
es un lema que hay que cumplir a rajatabla, porque en cualquier
momento todo puede desvanecerse y habremos hecho el tonto si no: aquello
de que el presente es el tiempo que perdemos pensando en el futuro… Y no
olvidar a nuestra familia ni a nuestros amigos, sacar tiempo para
ellos y ayudarlos cuando lo necesiten. Todo esto parece olvidarse
cuando la gente pierde el miedo a contagiarse y ve que la vida sigue
igual que antes. Algunos de nosotros, no olvidaremos y empezaremos paso
a paso con una lección aprendida, una gran lección de vida que nos dice
que
todo se puede perder sin darnos cuenta y que nadie es más que nadie
en ningún momento de nuestra existencia.
